It's Connor's Birthday!

Well, it's his 5 month birthday today. It's gone by fast. Pretty soon he's going to get to see his first summer and get to play outside. That should be fun. I'm a little worried though cuz he doesn't like to wear clothes and he's always roasting. It's still February, I'm worried what he'll be like in July with no AC.

The Jumpster

Posted by Kate

We bought Connor a Jolly Jumper on the weekend. He has been in it a few times now, and seems to be getting the hang of it. He is always moving his feet anyway, so this is a good way to put that action to use. The Jolly Jumper was used quite a lot in my family, so this has inspired many stories. For example, one of us called it the "hop hopper"; once when Jillian was in it, Kim grabbed her and SWUNG her--that's probably why she never liked it. Mom and I also wish that there was a grown-up size Jolly Jumper. I don't want to bungee jump, because I don't want the feeling of falling, and a bouncing on a trampoline is much more work. But just hanging from a big spring would be great, because your weight is fully supported and you can just bounce around gently. Dave says he is sure that someone would make me one if I paid them enough money.

ps: Please ignore Chumpy's scary glowing eyes in the back of the picture!

I HATE AUTOMATIC CAR WASHES!!!

Last Wednesday it was pretty nice outside I decided to finially get my car washed. I hadn't washed it since probably November and I couldn't remember what colour my car was. So I thought I'd try to automatic one here in town. BAD IDEA!!! All was good and I was sitting there in my car and it looked good and clean and I thought I better go get some gas while I was at it. I jumped out of my car and walked around the back of my car.

My spoiler was nolonger attached to my car... What could posibly cause something like that to happen? STUPID AUTOMATIC CAR WASH!!! Turns out my spoiler got riped off by the fans which I believe were set to Warp 4.7. I got it back and it was mangled. I think it might have been ok except for the cars that ran over it a few times before it got knocked off to the side.

I've been in cantact with the owner a few times since then and he's agreed to pay $200.00 towards the repair, which is something I guess... I'm going to get a used one put on for about $340 and with the owners cash I'll only have to pay $140.

I talked to the owner tonight and he said he didn't want to have anyone bad mouthing him or the car wash so that's why he was willing to pay for part of the damage.

He also said that he would want me to be a return customer as well... YEAH RIGHT! Just what I need. My car sudenly becomes a convertible...

The Collection is now complete!

Last weekend I finially finished off my Voyager collection! I had to go to 6 different stores between Barrie and Newmarket to find Season 6 but I finially got it on my third Walmart. Stupid Barrie Walmarts.... Usually I don't like spending that much money all in one day but I had the stomach flu on Saturday and wanted to get out of the house. So I drove all over the place to finish off Voyager. Now I just have to track down who's got them all....

Scientists have discovered a new galaxy...

Posted by Kate

Yesterday while tutoring Evan, I helped him study for a science test on space. He is in grade 4.

Kate: What is the name of the galaxy that our earth and sun is in?
Evan: I'm not sure.
Kate: I'll give you a hint--it has the name of a drink in it.
Evan: Hmmm. I think it has something to do with a martini.....

Ha! As Jillian says: when I was 10, I'd never even heard of a martini!

Connor actually rolled over in the chair. No more rocking without the seatbelt, I guess!  Posted by Hello

Yes, this IS the coolest bath tub ever. It is inflatable, and when you squeeze the beak it quacks! Thank you Aunt Jillian! Posted by Hello

Another post about car seats

Posted by Kate

You know what bugs me? It's when I see babies who are, like, 8 monthes old who are still in the infant carseats (the kind you carry around that snap in and out of the car). The baby is obviously too big because his feet are hanging over the edge. Our infant seat was only for babies up to 26 inches long, and I think that is pretty standard. The parents are probably still using the infant seat because you can set it in a grocery cart if the baby can't sit up well yet, and if the baby falls asleep you can take the whole seat out of the car and you don't wake up the baby. But it's not safe! If you're in an accident a carseat won't protect a child as well if they are too big for it. Connor outgrew the infant seat at the end December and is in the big size that stays in the car. He really dislikes being strapped in, and it means I have to wake him up to take him out when I get home. Also, if I'm travelling by myself I cannot stop to go to the bathroom unless I ask a Tim Hortons employee to hold Connor for me, as he cannot sit by himself on the floor (and who wants to sit on a public bathroom floor anyway?) Using a big carseat is pretty inconvenient right now, but I do it because I'm supposed to. It makes me mad that I'm doing the right, safe thing and causing me and my baby lots of strife, while other people merrily ignore the safety regulations and have an easier time.

The WallyMart

Posted by Kate

Connor and I made our first expedition by ourselves to a major shopping place today. We went to Walmart to print the pictures from the digital camera. Connor obligingly had a nap on the way there and was cheerful when we arrived. He got kind of bored while I fiddled around with the picture maker, but liked driving around the store after. He had to go in one of those baby seats that are attached to the carts. We checked out the fabric section since I need to make new pajama pants, but they didn't have any good, inexpensive flannel. There was still 1/2 hour until the pictures were ready, so we went to 2nd cup where he charmed the coffee-making ladies. Then we picked up the pictures and went home. He had a nap on the way home in the car, too. All in all, a good trip.
